How Remote Working Has Boosted My Productivity

freelancing

It has been a couple of years that I have been working as a freelancer through various portals. Freelancers usually have to use their creativity for the tasks under their hands. If any freelancers do not get the perfect environment to work in a creative atmosphere that’s beneficial for their work, productivity starts degrading.  To get the best result from a freelancer, the company or the employer should allow them to work remotely rather than transferring the resource on site.

Here in this article we are showing you 5 main reasons why remote working has boosted productiveness of mine and other professionals.

Time and Cost Saving

One of the strongest point in making a shift from an employee to a freelancer is the amount of time you save. Since you don’t have to commute to work anymore, you could easily utilize the time saved to complete your project or get done with your personal work.

The world average commute time daily is 40 minutes daily one way. The average drive-time in America is 24.3 minutes, which means Americans spend more than 100 hours commuting to and from work.

Commute time doesn’t really help anyone. You can’t work while you are commuting, you can’t think when you’re commuting and commuting also makes you tired. Recently, European courts ruled that the time spent commuting to and from work should count as part of the workday. The ruling applies to employees who don’t have a regional office to work out of, like electrical technicians, for example.

You could do so much in a day if you have those 80 minutes per day to do something else.

Time Management

It’s been known that the average worker is productive only for three hours a day. Hence, it’s important that most of your work is done during these productive hours.

Your productive hours can differ from the next person. If I am the most productive during 8am-11am, you might be most productive during 3pm-6pm. Most workers do not have the flexibility to work during their most productive hours and hence many employees slog for 8-10 hours a day doing absolutely nothing productive.

As a freelancer, it’s important that you understand when you’re most productive and get done most of your work during those hours. For example, I get done with all creative work between 8 AM to 11 AM. After that, I mostly just read and do other household work.

Freelancing gives you an opportunity to be better at time management and be productive.

Resource Sharing and Global Access

For companies, hiring freelancer is not only beneficial but also cost saving. If an expert can work for multiple companies on a project basis, companies can get access to the best talent available and need to lock them down and pay for them to stick around once the project is done. It’s not beneficial for either party — the company and the employee.

For a start-up who can’t afford to send their resources overseas can work for foreign clients via remote access to their system. There are tools available that can help you manage the work remotely. Or companies can hire freelancers from the client location for that particular project. This way startups do not have to spend a lot of money for overseas projects.

For most of my projects, I hire the best freelancers out there ir for a particular work. For example, if I want to get done some graphics done for a project, I can browse through sites like Upwork or Freelancer.com and hire the best designer out there. As I am hiring a freelancer on a project basis, I do not have to lock them down and spend funds on their salaries once the project is completed. This saves me money and also frees up the freelancer to take up other projects once our project is completed.

There is a lot of benefit to work remotely for any client and even in this era many freelancing portals like up work, freelancer, work n hire, guru etc have given employment to the skilled workers who can work remotely and can increase their productivity. Even a lot of factors get benefited like time, cost, environment, productivity, communication, effort, resource sharing. As far as my perception is concerned I will just like to say that trend of working for clients remotely will not only enhance the creativeness and productivity of the skilled worker but it will even inspire a the workers in learning effective and smart coordination with client and their project.
